Academic-heritage collaboration is a bit like gardening. Everyone admires the summertime blooms, but not everyone wants to spend their afternoons tending the soil. From the outside, successful collaborations can look as though they materialise at the outset of a large project. In my experience, they begin years earlier with a cup of coffee.
