Professor Maria M Delgado

Director of Research, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama

Professor Maria M Delgado is Professor and Director of Research at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Modern Languages Research at the School of Advanced Study, University of London.

She has held posts at Queen Mary University of London, Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Hull. She has published widely in areas of transnational theatre and film and her work on practice research involves projects as a curator, translator and editor, as well as visiting positions, consultancy and advisory work with a range of institutions in the Europe, North and South America, Australia and Hong Kong.  She is currently REF subpanel chair for Subpanel 33 (Music, Drama, Dance, Performing Arts, Film and Screen Studies) and Deputy Chair of Main Panel D. 

She currently serves in the Academic, Strategic, International and Knowledge Exchange Peer Review Colleges of the Arts and Humanities Research Council and is a member of the Leverhulme Trust’s Advisory Panel and Jisc’s Research Strategy Forum. She was an Artistic and Quality Assessor for Arts Council England between 2010 and 2017 and was elected to the Academia Europaea in 2015.
