Keeper of Global Arts, Cultures and Design at National Museums Scotland
John Giblin is Keeper of Global Arts, Cultures and Design at National Museums Scotland (NMS) and is an Honorary Associate Professor in Archaeology at University College London and an Honorary Research Associate in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh.

John Giblin is Keeper of Global Arts, Cultures and Design at National Museums Scotland (NMS) and is an Honorary Associate Professor in Archaeology at University College London and an Honorary Research Associate in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh. He began his career as a researcher and lecturer in archaeology and critical heritage studies at the University of Gothenburg and the University of Western Sydney before moving into museum curatorship, research and leadership at the British Museum and since at NMS. He leads one of NMS's three priority themes, Colonial Histories and Legacies, which reaches across Leadership, Collections, Audiences and Workforce and he co-leads NMS's work on participatory practice in curation, research and public programmes. He has served on the UK Research Councils Peer Review College since 2019 and is a member of the Hunterian Museum's Academic Advisory Board at the University of Glasgow. He is a Clore Duffield Leadership Fellow and a Fellow of the UK Museums Association.
