NCACE Research Associate
Mairead will work as part of the Knowledge and Evidence Creation work package.

Mairead O’Rourke is an independent consultant, facilitator, and coach with over 20 years’ experience in the arts and heritage sectors.
She works with strategic bodies, councils, museums, heritage sites and arts organisations to undertake research projects, deliver training and support the development of strategic plans. Mairead’s research and guidance publications have provided insights into areas such as governance models, social prescribing, and local planning for libraries and archives. Her clients include Arts Council England, The Local Government Association, The V&A and The National Archives.
Recent projects include compiling a guide on alternative operating models for museums for the Association of Independent Museums and research into mentoring for The Art Fund.
Mairead has been a trustee of two museums and is currently a trustee for the Museums Association Support Fund. She is a member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council UK and an assessor for the Clore Leadership Programme. She operates through CultureRunner and works with a range of Associates in the delivery of projects.
Her research proposal is focused on freelance knowledge exchange in the development of cultural infrastructure.
